Film news: F1 - Scintillating, riveting, & fast
Over the past weekend, motorsport and film fans and enthusiasts were treated to the highly anticipated and gripping F1 film trailer which left us all gasping for more exuberant F1 racing dynamism.
Many F1 and film fanatics found the collaborative Apple Original Films and Formula One trailer thrilling and the feature’s theatrical release is set to be a groundbreaking success, with G-force to topple the Box Office charts.
Film News Blitz writer Aidan Leo reviews the energetic F1 film trailer and what we learnt from its dynamite sequences and enthralling moments.
What did we learn from the trailer?
The feature follows veteran IMSA racer and the “best that never was”, Sonny Hayes.
He is on a redemption path to the top with his naysayers claiming his days are numbered as a racer and that he is a ‘has-been’.
Hayes is pushed to join the APXGP F1 squad (fictional team in the film) by friend and team boss, Ruben, played by legendary No Country for Old Men actor, Javier Bardem.

Ruben is certain that Hayes’ past racing and high performance exploits on the USA racing circuit will do him tremendous good on the F1 grid.
With Fleetwood Mac’s “Chain” amplifying in the background, Hayes reluctantly agrees to Ruben’s proposal, serving as the film’s plot line.
The feature will evidently chronicle Hayes’ possible journey to being the best racing driver in the world.
“I’m offering you an open seat in Formula One, the only place you could say if you win, you are the absolute best,” stated firmly by Ruben to Hayes.
Who is directing and starring in the electric feature?
The dazzling high-speed feature marks Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski’s return to the big screen.
The director is highly tuned in with the film’s narrative and is eagerly thrilled for the public to experience what he feels will be an incredible adventure for all to enjoy.
“It always starts with a great script and a great story. I knew that no matter how accurate or exciting the racing is, it doesn't mean anything if you're not telling a story supported with great characters. So it all starts with the script.” Kosinski told The Race
The two well-renowned and notable figureheads of the feature will be the aforementioned Bardem in a supporting role, backing up the lead, portraying Sonny Hayes, the iconic veteran actor and world-renowned generational star, Brad Pitt.
Pitt is now 61 years of age. Through his experience and acting prowess, we can expect a picture perfect acting masterclass.
He is rivaled by his direct teammate and competitor, the self-approving Joshua Pearce, played by rising British star Damson Idris (Snowfall).
Passionate and turbulent team dynamics
The main team dynamic illustrated to us is the tension and discontent Hayes and Pearce hold for one another.
The trailer certainly hinted at some fierce animosity between those two as they vie for racing gold across the mind-boggling F1 circuit.
I get the impression they will make up and find common ground by the film’s conclusion. As is typical of films of this nature.
Nevertheless, their tense interactions are seemingly what will exist as the main climactic moments of the film.
Furthermore, we experience a little second-hand steamy romance brewing between Hayes and Kerry Condon’s character Kate (the technical director of the team).
The feature will be a gripping and rapid whirlwind for sports and film fans
The film seemingly has everything we love and expect of a chaotic adrenaline-inducing adventure.
From introspective journeys, and captivating triumphs over contemporaries who doubt you, to the romantic connections for the viewer to hold an affinity for.
But we should not be surprised.
The old adage of the highs being extremely high and the lows being detrimentally low is the core emotional depth I hope to experience watching the film, as that is what the very nature of F1 as a sport hinges off of.
We should consider the film’s ability to enchant and dazzle fans to the same standard.

“If you’re a Formula One fan, I think you’re gonna like this movie. If you don’t know anything about Formula One, I think you’re gonna like this movie,” as director Kosinski strongly believes regarding his comments to Sharp.
