Film news: Interesting hints in newly released MCU Thunderbolts* teaser

Late last night, Marvel Studios dropped yet another teaser trailer on their Twitter account for the now eagerly anticipated, Thunderbolts*.

With not much to go on, if you compare it to the teaser or full trailer prior, there are a few things for us to discuss, and possible questions to pose.

Film News Blitz’s Aidan Leo details any small hints within the teaser and ponders what they may mean.

What, if anything, are the new details we witnessed in the Thunderbolts*’s new teaser?

Well, aside from possibly minor differences in the visuals, generally the scene selection is what we have already been subjected to previously.

However, the clip’s audio is worth further deliberation and is something for us to delve into and offers further insight on Lewis Pullman’s Sentry.

What were the soundbites in the teaser?

The teaser begins with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Val) narrating over a shot we have seen previously with Pullman’s Sentry hovering in the sky.

Val says, “He’s stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one. And soon to be known as Earth’s mightiest hero.”

We then hear a male character's voice say, “Why would a God need to take orders from anyone at all?”

With what appears to be Pullman’s Bob following up menacingly, “Maybe I need to show you what I’m capable of.”

“The Avengers are gone, no one is coming to save the day.” - Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan)

We then hear Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes respond, “We could be the people that are coming.”

Naturally this is part of a 30 second clip, and edited accordingly. This is not all within one conversation but rather audio from throughout incidents in the film (seemingly).

Sentry is overpowered

Now, I have made a more descriptive detailing of Sentry and his abilities in my initial reaction to the full MCU Thunderbolts* trailer.

So I won’t mention too much as it relates to his overall capabilities.

However, with him basically being Superman, and his devious dark side and alter ego, The Void on show in the feature, we can expect more diabolical, gut-wrenching action sequences throughout.

Aside from the fact that jeopardy seems to have been removed entirely from the film with all members of the Thunderbolts* cast for Avengers: Doomsday.

Well, apart from Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, whose relative absence in all the trailers thus far, indicates her imminent death in the chaotic feature.

My overarching feelings on the Thunderbolts* teaser

The nature of Sentry’s MCU entry is fast becoming the most alluring prospect that I hope the film delivers on.

With Pullman confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, there is a lot more devastation on the horizon for MCU phase six.

Unless his joining of the protagonists overtly softens his disposition, which is likely considering Paul Bettany’s Vision ending up pretty useless after his initial introduction, despite his capabilities.

But I digress, regardless of what happens going forward, Pullman’s Sentry will certainly offer a taste of the carnage he can let loose across New York City.

Now possibly, Val may have just been speaking in hyperbole, but if it is indeed the case that Sentry is more powerful than all the Avengers (which he is in the comics bar maybe different versions of Hulk and Thor) in the MCU, it makes the prospect of his heroism or his villainy as The Void a devastating reality.

His existence and growing understanding and developing of his abilities will make him the most dangerous multiversal threat in the MCU.

Well, that is of course until the return of The Scarlet Witch.

Tick-tock…
