Film news: Marvel announce notable Avengers: Doomsday cast

Earlier today, Marvel Studios went live on all their notable platforms to reveal the highly anticipated cast of Avengers: Doomsday.

With the live stream and cast revelations now concluded, let's discuss who is going to feature in the MCU epic.

Film News Blitz’s Aidan Leo recounts the revealed cast for the MCU’s Avengers: Doomsday.

How did Marvel announce the cast?

Via their social media, the announcement video continued over a five-hour plus stream with cast members named every 15 to 20 minutes or so.

This was done via various director’s chairs coming into frame one by one in what appeared to be an empty film set.

Each chair consisted of an actor’s name embedded on the back.

Who are the notable returnees to star in Avengers: Doomsday?

The most noteworthy stars that have been revealed are MCU staples, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.

Many fans were anticipating news surrounding the two, and now evidently both are set to reprise their roles as Thor and Loki respectively.

Loki, especially after the events of the Loki series, is expected to play a significant role in the feature’s overall narrative, with the series’ conclusion resulting in the emergence of ‘God of Stories’ Loki who possesses impactful influence in various comic volumes.

Following the two Asgardians are The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, who return as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.

The former having starred in the recently released Captain America: Brave New World, and the latter who is set to lead the ragtag group of anti-heroes in Thunderbolts*.

Speaking of the Thunderbolts* crew, Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), and Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost) are all returning alongside Stan.

Not to forget the Thunderbolts* big bad portrayed by Lewis Pullman, which sees Bob Reynolds (Sentry) arrive with all his might as one of the heavy-hitters in this ongoing MCU phase.

Some survive through it all, at least that is the case with Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang (Ant-Man), who is back to fend off all comers, small and large.

Next we have Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s primary figures Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor).

They are followed by the Black Panther franchise alum, Winston Duke (M’Baku)

Fans have been urging Marvel for the status of Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi. He will also be returning.

Captain America: Brave New World star Danny Ramirez will be reprising his role as Joaquin Torres.

Who are the fresh faces that will feature in Avengers: Doomsday?

Notably, Vanessa Kirby is joining the fold as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), along with Fantastic Four leader Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) portrayed by Pedro Pascal, with both Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach rounding up the team as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) respectively.

All four actors will make their initial appearances in The Fantastic Four: First Steps on 27 July.

A relatively new face in the MCU, but a highly sought after character depiction, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, returns after his successful outing throughout the events of Deadpool & Wolverine.

The return of iconic Fox X-Men franchise alumni

Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of Marvel pioneers from the Fox X-Men era.

X-Men genius Beast, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer makes his long-awaited return from the loved X trilogy

Grammer initially appeared in The Marvels post-credit scene.

Notable franchise stalwarts Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto respectively.

Following the two industry legends are three cult figures of the superhero-action film genre and classic X-Men films, those being James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler).

The casting live stream for Avengers: Doomsday concluded with Robert Downey Jr (Doctor Doom himself) taking the final seat and ‘shushing’ the camera in the process.
