Marvel news: The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer kicks off MCU Phase Six
Amid frenzied anticipation, The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer has been released, and the franchise's second reboot looks set to kick off the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in style.
Many speculated over the need for a re-hashing of the series, after the disastrous Fox attempt in 2015, ‘Fant4stic’, but with the series back in Marvel’s hands, the trailer showed what could be a blockbuster to keep your head up for.
With Marvel initially saying the trailer would premier at noon GMT on Tuesday, they made over 500 thousand viewers on X, and an extra 200 thousand on YouTube wait an extra hour on stream, and Film News Blitz’s Joe Matthews took a look.
What can you see in The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer?
The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes us back to the 1960s and the height of the space race, and Marvel’s first family is forced to defend Earth from the monstrous Galactus.
The trailer covered several key points that Marvel fans have been dying to see.
One big thing for superhero movie trailers is displaying how each character’s abilities will look on screen, and one glaring admission was actually seeing Reed Richards’ stretching abilities.
We did however get a good look at the Human Torch, seeing his first attempts at flying up out of the stratosphere.
We also see Sue Storm’s invisibility, and Marvel made sure to show off their new design for The Thing, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
He was visible for large portions of the trailer, and previous The Thing designs have brought on heaps of distaste from fans.
The trailer also showed that Marvel’s first family had been living with their powers for some time.
Galactus also raised eyebrows in the teaser, as he can briefly be seen seemingly standing on Earth in New York, as it's believed that he is searching for the Fantastic Four on a personal vendetta.
In the comics, however, Earth is supposed to be the same size as Galactus’ head, which potentially is intended to show how the villain can distort and control his size.
Who are the big names in the cast?
The cast list was released on February 14 last year and boasts some very big names.
In the leading role is Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), with Vanessa Kirby playing his wife, Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch and Moss-Bachrach rounds out the main quartet as The Thing.
The famous returning villain is set to be the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner, and as the Marvel Universe moves forward, it is the mighty Galactus taking to the screen for the first time in comic-accurate form in a live-action film (not as a big space cloud).

Having recently played Dr Wilhelm Seivers in Nosferatu, as well as taking on roles in The First Omen, The Creator and The Green Knight, it is Ralph Ineson who has taken on the task of attempting to terrify, and tower over audiences as the iconic villain.
There are also several actors with undisclosed roles, meaning they will play a part in the film, but the extent or nature of their roles cannot be specified.
Those named are Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich.
Furthermore, after Tony Stark passed away in one of Marvel’s saddest-ever scenes in Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr is free to pick up a new Marvel role, and there have been months of excitement around him being cast as Dr Victor Von Doom, with some even speculating he may make a surprise appearance in this Fantastic Four film.
When will The Fantastic Four: First Steps land in cinemas?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Fantastic Four is set to be unveiled on July 25, 2025, in IMAX.
It was previously scheduled for November 8, 2024, before being moved to February 14, 2025, and May 2, 2025, before finally settling for a Summer release.
