TV awards: Culinary dramedy The Bear leads Golden Globes nominations
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled its list of nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes with FX/Hulu’s The Bear serving up a storm.
The kitchen-based dramedy led the nominations with five.

The raging debate about whether The Bear is a drama or comedy will rage one with its nomination in Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
In addition, series stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Cólon-Zayas all picked up acting nominations.

Two series hot on The Bear’s heels are Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and FX’s Shogun, each with four nominations.
Only Murders in the Building will go up against The Bear in Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy with Shogun nominated in Best Television Series, Drama.
Only Murders in the Building’s leading trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez all received acting nominations with Gomez also nominated in the film category for her turn in Emilia Perez.
Shogun earned rave reviews upon its 2024 debut and is also nominated across acting categories.
The period Samurai epic, starring the legendary Hiroyuki Sanada is returning for two more series and cleaned house at the 76th annual Emmy Awards, winning 18 awards across the Creative and Primetime events.

Furthermore, just as is the case in film, there is a new category for television nominees to fight for.
Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler, Ali Wong and Ramy Youssef have all been nominated in the newly-created Best Standup Comedy on Television category.
The 82nd Annual Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
