Get ready to heist again! During the Warner Bros. sizzle reel at CinemaCon 2026, Margot Robbie confirmed the upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel.

The original Ocean’s trilogy was led by calculating career thief, Danny Ocean (George Clooney), but the Barbie actress playfully explained that “two masterminds taught him everything he knows… his parents”.

The prequel is thus set to follow a heist orchestrated by Danny Ocean’s parents.

Everything we know so far about the prequel

The Ocean’s prequel is currently untitled, but is set to star Robbie, Bradley Cooper.

While unconfirmed, it is believed that they will take on the roles of Danny’s parents.

Cooper is also set to write and direct the project, with filming starting in the summer across the UK, Monaco and Italy.

Robbie will be producing the film through her production company LuckyChap, and it is currently slated for a 2027 release.

While there are still minimal plot details available, Robbie teased that audiences will get to see Danny’s parents in their prime, “pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix”.

And so, Formula One will be returning to the big screen with a bang in this flashy heist film.

What to expect from the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise

“11 men, 3 casinos, 150 million dollars, 1 chance to pull it off.”

The Ocean’s films are slick action comedies that always centre around an almost impossible-to-pull-off heist.

The 2000s trilogy focused on Danny Ocean and his criminal crew.

Over the course of the 2001-released film, Danny planned and orchestrated a heist that involved robbing three Las Vegas casinos.

In the second film, Ocean’s Twelve, the team took on an Europe-based heist to steal a Fabergé egg.

Ocean’s Thirteen had them sabotaging the opening of a new casino in the name of revenge. Of course, they also stole the owner’s private diamond collection.

The team was comprised of Danny’s right-hand man (Brad Pitt), a pickpocket (Matt Damon), the bankroller (Elliot Gould), an inside man (Bernie Mac), a con-man (Carl Reiner), an explosives expert (Don Cheadle), brother mechanics (Casey Affleck and Scott Caan), a techie (Eddie Jemison) and an acrobat (Qin Shaobo).

Other cast members featured in the trilogy include: Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Vincent Cassel, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Al Pacino.

All three films were directed by Steven Soderbergh and are available to rent through Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

The ‘Ocean’s’ spin-off

“If you’re going to have a problem with stealing, then you’re not going to like the rest of this conversation.”

The franchise also received a spin-off in 2018, Ocean’s Eight, which followed a heist conducted by Danny’s younger sister, Debbie (Sandra Bullock).

It featured an all-female lead cast in the form of Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham-Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Rihanna.

The crew were tasked with stealing a necklace off the neck of a celebrity (Hathaway) attending the Met Gala.

Given the history of the Ocean’s franchise, the prequel is sure to be nothing short of a star-studded, high-stakes whirlwind.
