Enola Holmes is back for more, after Netflix announced the third film is out in July.
The detective returns, and the cast of familiar faces is back for Enola Holmes 3.
Film News Blitz’s Bella Ford will explain everything we know about the final film.
What can we expect from ‘Enola Holmes 3’?
The official synopsis for the movie reads “adventure leads detective Enola Holmes to Malta as personal and professional dreams collide on a case more treacherous than any she’s faced before.”
In the last instalment of the franchise, it looks like Enola’s personal life somewhat gets in the way of her detective nature.
The teaser trailer on 27 May showed Tewksbury (Louis Partridge) proposing.
Also, Enola (Millie Bobby Brown) learns that her brother, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), has been kidnapped, which leads to a series of quick-fire scenes featuring explosions and her being late to her own wedding.
We can expect more Holmes family drama and a baffling case that has the audience hooked.
The poster shows Enola in a wedding dress, fighting off criminals atop a moving carriage, as Tewkesbury waits for her at the church.
This is shown in the teaser trailer, too.
Partridge hinted to The Telegraph that Enola and Tewkesbury “go through a bit of a rough patch” in the film.
Is that wedding still going to commence?
Philip Barantini, who helmed the first two films and the hit limited series Adolescence, directs Enola Holmes 3.
Jack Thorne (who created Adolescence with Barantini) returns to write the script, based on the books by Nancy Springer.
Who is returning to the cast for ‘Enola Holmes 3’?
The Enola Holmes cast has always been stacked, including Brown returning as Enola Holmes and Partridge as her love interest, Tewkesbury.
Himesh Patel as Dr John Watson, Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Mira Troy are also in the ensemble.
Previous films
The live-action Enola Holmes franchise started back in 2020 when Brown first portrayed the detective, who discovers that her mother has mysteriously vanished, leaving cryptic clues.
She then meets Tewkesbury, and they navigate the dangers of London together.
It made a brilliant debut at the second spot among Netflix’s most-watched movies.
The second film came out in 2022 and won top spot on Netflix’s global chart.
In this film, Enola opens up her first detective agency and is tasked with finding a girl named Sarah Chapman who had been reported as missing.
Throughout both films, there are themes of historical and political views, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the third film continue this trend
Critics loved both of the first films, scoring them in the 90s on Rotten Tomatoes.
The first two films ran just over two hours, but the third will be slightly shorter at one hour and 45 minutes.
Enola Holmes 3 will be on Netflix on 1 July.
