Apple TV+ has released the first look teaser trailer for the fourth season of their heartfelt football comedy, Ted Lasso.
The season is set to premiere on 5 August 2026, and release its 10 episodes weekly on Wednesdays thereafter.
The teaser promises the delightful return of beloved characters from seasons past, as well as a refreshing new look at women’s football at Richmond.
Film News Blitz’s Sarah Sharp looks through the pre-game material.
Welcome back, Coach Lasso
Ted Lasso is returning for a fourth season!
In an interview with Deadline, the show’s co-creator, Bill Lawrence, confirmed that Jason Sudeikis has another three-season arc planned for this iteration of the series.
“Welcome back, coach,” says a recurring Richmond fan in the teaser, “too bad you’re coaching a bunch of girls, you wanker.”
These three seasons will have Coach Ted Lasso (Sudeikis) taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching Richmond’s Division 2 women’s football team.
It appears that the show will pick up where the third season left off, with Lasso home in Kansas before he heads back to the UK.
When the first stills were released, Lawrence commented.
“Anybody that’s seen the pictures can tell that Jason and his gang are telling a brand new three-season story with Ted Lasso.”
The new story: what we know about ‘Ted Lasso’ season four
The Emmy Award-winning show knows how to tease its fans, with its newly released teaser giving away barely any details.
Set to Mumford & Suns’ ‘Rubber Band Man,’ the first look gives viewers only a glimpse into what the season holds for its characters.
Lasso and Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) are back on the pitch, sharing glances, cheers and of course, trips to Mae’s (Annette Badland) pub.
Keeley (Juno Temple) and Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) reunite with each other as well as with their former beaus.
Rebecca shares a kiss with her Amsterdam man (Matteo van der Grijn).
Keeley shares an awkward look and broken car skylight with, he’s here, he’s there, he’s every-fucking-where, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).
As per usual, the lovely Higgins (Jeremy Swift) moderates.
Also seen in the teaser are: Lasso’s ex-wife (Andrea Anders), the three diehard beer and Richmond fans (Adam Colborne, Kevin Garry and Bronson Webb) and Beard’s partner, Jane (Phoebe Walsh).
Unfortunately, Phil Dunster was unable to return as Jamie Tartt due to scheduling conflicts.
The Richmond women’s football team
The fourth season will also have a host of new characters, predominantly members of the women’s team.
The story is set to be just as gripping as the seasons before it, with the teaser showing the women training, impressively scoring, fighting on the pitch and cheering in the bar.
Sex Education’s Tanya Reynolds will be joining the team as an assistant coach.
Other cast members joining the team include: Jude Mack (Back in Action), Faye Marsay (Adolescence), Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion), Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane) and Rex Hayes.
Shannon (Shannon Haynes) also made a brief feature, teasing a possible bigger storyline for her character.
With little else to know so far, as Ted would say, the ETA to return to Nelson Road is ASAP PP (as soon as possible, pretty please).
